Take Me To The River

Alone, thinking
I woke to a demon screaming in my brain
As I looked around, I saw that he was not alone
He was Legion and had come to destroy
Unable to move…to close my eyes
The demons danced before me
Each bearing a memory
Long forgotten
Memories of things I barely lived through
Memories that I can’t face
Yet, there, in front of my face
Exploding through my brain
They displayed themselves
Each reaching out
Taking its pound of flesh
Even though I’ve long since paid the toll
Dreamspace melts into my morning
Into this bottle
Into my day
As I consider calling upon the Ferryman
Offering Him my all, would he allow me to ride
All memories forgotten
As I drag a finger through the waters of the river
On my way to my forever

(Rough draft)
